Most driveways we wash across the Shoals are concrete or pavers with a layer of algae and a season of pollen baked on top by Tennessee Valley humidity. The job is to lift the grime without scarring the surface — soft-wash when the slab prefers chemistry, pressure-wash when the surface can take it, never the other way around.

What is included

Surface types we accept on a residential drive.

Concrete, asphalt, pavers, aggregate, and stamped — each surface gets the chemistry and PSI that match what it can take. If a driveway cannot take a pressure wash we will tell you on the walk-on and quote soft-wash instead.

Poured concrete
Concrete driveways

Brushed and smooth-poured slabs washed at controlled PSI so algae and tire-track grime lift without scarring the finish. Tennessee Valley humidity feeds the green — chemistry does the work, PSI does the rinse.

Asphalt
Asphalt driveways

Asphalt is softer than concrete — PSI dialled back, fan-tip preferred, and chemistry doing the heavy lifting so the surface binders stay intact and the edges keep their shape.

Brick & stone pavers
Paver driveways

Brick, stone, and concrete pavers washed at wash-rates that keep the sand in the joints where it belongs. Edges intact, no joint wash-out, surface-friendly chemistry on sealed pavers.

Exposed aggregate
Aggregate driveways

Exposed-aggregate slabs cleaned with low-PSI rinses and algaecide so the stone stays exposed and the surface finish holds. No high-pressure blasts that would loosen the aggregate or scar the matrix.

Stamped & sealed
Stamped / sealed drives

Stamped and seal-coated slabs treated as a finished surface — soft-wash chemistry first, the gentlest rinse that does the job. The seal coat stays intact and the pattern lines stay defined.

Stains & organic growth

What the wash actually lifts off the slab.

Six categories cover the bulk of what shows up on a residential Shoals drive after a season of humidity, cars, and leaf fall. The wash handles each one with the surfactant and PSI that match the stain.

Algae & green haze

The Tennessee Valley feeds algae cycles on every shaded drive. Soft-wash algaecide kills the growth at the root so it does not bounce back in two weeks.

Mold & mildew

The black-and-green that settles into the north side of the drive — chemistry lifts it without etching the slab or washing the joints out.

Tire-track grime

The black ribbon from the cars in and out. Pre-treated with the right surfactant, then lifted at a controlled PSI so the surface takes the cleanup, not the abuse.

Leaf tannins

The brown ghost-leaves that leaves behind when they sit wet for a week. Oxidation treatment before the wash so the stain comes up instead of setting deeper into the slab.

Oil & oil-spot treatment

Spot-treatment on oil drips when reasonable — degreaser, dwell, and a hot rinse. Full oil-spot removal is rarely possible on aged asphalt, but the visible dark spot is brought down by orders of magnitude.

Rust & fertilizer marks

Battery-acid drip from a parked trailer, fertilizer burn from a spreader pass — chemistry-first, low-PSI rinse, surface-friendly every step.

Honest framing: a sealed slab will come back 90%+ in most cases; an unsealed, twenty-year-old pour with deep oil staining will come back looking dramatically better without ever looking factory-new. We will lay that out on the walk-on — what we expect to lift, what we expect to fade, and where chemistry carries the load versus PSI.

The same crew brings both — and the choice is not a marketing slogan. Walk-on decides the method: what is on the slab, how the slab was finished, and what is living on it right now.

Soft-wash
Low-pressure algaecide treatment.

Soft-washing holds water pressure under 500 PSI and pairs it with a bleach, water, and soap mix that kills mold, algae, and mildew at the root. The chemistry does the work — the rinse just carries the dead growth off the slab.

When we use it on a residential drive

  • Sealed concrete and seal-coated driveways
  • Stamped or patterned finishes where PSI would scar
  • Heavy algae coverage on shaded or low-lying drives
  • Asphalt where PSI would compromise the binders
Pressure-wash
Controlled PSI on hard surfaces.

Pressure-washing pushes the PSI up — but never as high as the surface can take. Fan-tip, dwell time, and a controlled rinse pattern beat raw pressure every time, especially on pavers and joints.

When we use it on a residential drive

  • Brushed and smooth-poured concrete slabs
  • Pavers with sand joints intact and edges solid
  • Asphalt where PSI is dialled back for the binders
  • Surfaces already cleaned previously that just need a refresh

The crew chooses one over the other per job, not per customer. The same drive on two consecutive visits might get a soft-wash the first time (heavy algae, sealed slab) and a controlled pressure-wash the second (maintenance pass after the chemistry pulled the growth cycle back). That is what a walk-on quote actually gives you — a method picked for the slab in front of us, not a price sheet.
